From 26 April 2008, people granted a Student Visa will automatically receive permission to work with their visa grant.

Most student visa holders will no longer need to apply separately in Australia for permission to work.

While studying Students can work up to 20 hours a week and during non-study periods they can work Full Time.

It is a condition for all Student visa holders that they must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

The prices for this start from about $100 for 3 months, and will cover most medical expenses in public hospitals, clinics and specialists.

This is available from many insurers including:

    • Medibank Private
